The officials of auschwitz
Established by the order of Reichsfuhrer SS Heinrich Himmler
Commanders of Auschwitz
When Auschwitz II-Birkenau and Auschwitz III-Monowitz were declared independent, the commandant at Auschwitz I remained the commandant of all SS units and was the senior officer of the commandants at the other camps. SS officers located at Auschwitz I organized and maintained prisoners records as well as managed prisoner labor deployment. SS physicians carried out experiments on twins and dwarfs, as well as experimenting with castration, sterilization, and hypothermia. The SS officers at Auschwitz II-Birkenau were officers of the largest killing center of all the concentration camps.
